Thomasians should always remember and prove that they are “imbued with unending grace”, like the Blessed Mother.
This was the message of UST Central Seminary Rector, Fr. Quirico Pedregosa Jr., O.P., in his homily at the Eucharistic celebration for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception at the UST Santísimo Parish last Dec. 7.
“Without grace, it is difficult for us to become competent Christian professionals. [W]e could not be compassionate Thomasian professionals, [and] it is difficult for us to be committed professional Christians,” Pedregosa said.
“The grace to become the mother of the savior [i]s the similar grace that was given to anyone else. Grace is primarily for Jesus, [a] gift given to Her to fulfill God’s lamb of salvation,” Pedregosa added.
Grace gives a hand to others, proclaims the message of hope and peace, and empowers everyone to be in union with God, Pedregosa said.
“Grace is never self-centered [and] self-referential. Because grace is sharing God’s life, God’s love, God’s power. [His] power is diffusive. It reaches out to others,” he said.
The Mass was concelebrated by Vice Rector Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. and Secretary General Fr. Jesus Miranda, O.P.
The Mass was also celebrated for the founding anniversary of the Dominican Province of the Philippines and the silver jubilee of the UST Center for Campus Ministry.
