The Adamson University Pep Squad grabbed their first ever CDC crown, finally dethroning 4-time champion National University Pep Squad, in the UAAP Season 80 Cheerdance Competition Saturday.

With an '80s-inspired routine, Adamson took the gold by garnering 663.5, 25 points ahead of second-placers University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe who scored a total of 638.5.

"'Yung pagsunod po namin sa mga payo ng mga coaches tsaka advisers po namin, 'yun yung pinaka-key kung bakit kami nanalo today," Adamson Pep Squad captain Dwyeth Vergeire said.

As the NU Pep Squad failed to take their fifth straight title and was gunned down to fourth place tied to FEU with 610.5 points, the University of the East Pep Squad landed third with 634.5 out of the maximum 800.

In the group stunts division, Adamson bagged the silver award with 219.5 points behind FEU who made 229 points, while the University of the Philippines Pep Squad clinched bronze with just a 1.5 difference from fourth-placers UST.

After skipping last season's CDC, the returning UP Pep Squad landed in sixth place — their first failure to reach the podium since 1994.

The De La Salle University Animo Squad placed seventh with 567.50 points and the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Babble Battalion landed on last place with 558.50 points. with reports from Ralph Daniel Z. Crisostomo
