UP Diliman dominates chem eng’g board exams


The University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman ranked first in the November 2017 chemical engineers' licensure examinations with a rating of 98. 77 percent, or 80 out of its 81 examinees passed the exam.

The UP Los Baños ranked second, followed by University of Santo Tomas with ratings of 86.89 percent and 80.17 percent, respectively.

John Cyril Pastrana Claur of the University of Saint La Salle and Jared Philip Marquez Condez of the University of the Philipines in Iloilo topped the exam with an 84.60 percent rating, followed by Wilmark Talidon Palacios of Colegio San Agustin Bacolod and Dave Ersan Ramos of UP Diliman with an 83.90 percent rating.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 627 out of 942 examinees passed the November 2017 licensure examination for chemical engineers conducted by the Board of Chemical Engineering in Manila and Cebu on Nov. 18 to 20.

The national passing rate has increased to more than 11 percent, hitting a 66.56 percent mark, compared to its last rating of 55.26 percent .

The PRC said the date and venue of the passers’ oathtaking ceremony would be announced later.
