FEU overcomes Ateneo to force do-or-die game
The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws stunned top-seed Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, 80-67, in the semi-finals of the UAAP Season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday. The Tamaraws took advantage of Ateneo’s poor performance and held them down to a dismal 36 field goal percentage, while FEU shot a spectacular 49 percent.
Graduating seniors Ron Dennison and Prince Orizu led the charge for the Morayta-based squad.

Dennison tallied 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals while Orizu chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds in just 20 minutes of playing time. Former Blue Eagles Hubert Cani and Arvin Tolentino finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively. FEU was able to pull away late in the game, 75-58, after a triple by Cani with 2:45 left in the game. Thirdy Ravena led Ateneo with 17 points and six rebounds while Mike and Matt Nieto added 13 and 11 markers, respectively. The Blue Eagles suffered their second straight defeat and now in a deciding game situation that will be held on Nov. 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
