All aboard the Rail Road café: One-stop shop to satisfy cravings

Upon setting foot in this train café, the ceilings, doors, handrails, seats, and even the train announcement awaits!

This food station is the right stop for those who want to ride in the rush of a unique experience.

Long-time couple Krizzia Celine Vargas and Rusty Capricho's very own train-inspired café takes passengers to a trip down memory lane, reminiscing the good days they have shared way back during their college days.

Tracing the trail

Since both Vargas and Capricho are regular clients of the Light Rail Transit and Metro Rail Transit system, they wanted to incorporate the idea of the transportation vehicle in their new business venture as a couple.

“When I told them (staff) about this idea, they all laughed and said that it was a weird idea, but when I drew the initial sketch, they thought, ‘Okay, let us try [something new],” Vargas said in an interview with The Spiral Journal.

Situated in Francisco Homes subdivision in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, the couple made sure that their first-ever food business is not far-away from home, as well as to students who are their top target market.

“We aim to give the younger generation, who [have not experienced] riding the train yet, a positive experience despite [all] the negative news [that] they hear [about it] today,” Vargas said.

Right on track

Walking to the café, the “stop, slow, go” sign will leave customers curious for what awaits them inside the mini stall.

Upon entering, the cool ventilation would make the customers want to sit down and relax on the train-inspired seats, as the white walls decorated with train stops and up-beat tunes on their stereo would keep them company.

The lighting and the ambience of the place is perfect for taking selfies and Instagram-worthy shots.

The Railroad Café had their soft opening last October 10, 2017 and offers a wide variety of food and drinks, from rice meals with adobo or chicken cordon bleu toppings, pasta meals such as carbonara and spaghetti, to desserts like oreo cheesecakes, double trouble cake, chocolate and blueberry waffles, oreo milkshakes and more.

To top it off, the price for their food, which starts at Php. 45.00, is surely budget-friendly, especially for students with a tight allowance or for wage-earners who are waiting for the next pay day.
