Green Archers pound Growling Tigers
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers suffered a heavy beating from the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers, 59-94, in the second round of the UAAP season 80 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Sunday.
UST failed to rise from their weak start and scored only as much as eight points in the second quarter, giving DLSU a 21-point lead by the end of the first half, 45-24.

“Ginawa naman namin ‘yung best namin pero ganun talaga ‘yung nangyari,” UST team captain Marvin Lee said.
Lee scored a game-high 25 points, while Steve Akomo gave 14 markers to go along with 10 rebounds for the España-based squad.
Ben Mbala finished with 19 markers, nine rebounds, and three blocks, while Ricci Rivero tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block for the Green Archers.
The Tigers fell to an embarrassing 0-12 hole, losing their 15th straight game, while the Green Archers are just one win away from a twice-to-beat advantage with a 10-2 slate.
UST’s next game will be against the Ateneo De Manila University Blue Eagles, while DLSU will next face the National University Bulldogs.
Both games will be on Nov. 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
