Green Archers shut down Red Warriors
The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers dominated the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors with a 99-78 victory, at the second round of the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It was a dominating performance by the Green Archers as they stayed ahead throughout the game, with leads as high as 22 points against the Red Warriors.

The Green Archers ignited a 14-4 run at the beginning, but Alvin Pasaol responded with eight straight points that kept the Archers within striking distance. The Archers, however, always responded against the Warriors momentum with defensive efforts and scoring runs that extended their lead with 19 at the first half. At the second half, the Warriors cut the Archers lead to 14, but the Archers’ bench provided more offensive power to close the game with a 22-point lead. Ben Mbala led the Archers with game-high 25 points, along with Santi Santillan with 14 to lift their team past the Pasaol-led Warriors. Warriors’ offensive scorer Alvin Pasaol finished with a remarkable 23 points, but still fell short against the defending champions. The Warriors will face the undefeated Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Oct.28 at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the next opponent of the Archers will be the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers on Oct. 29 at the same venue.
