Petron sweeps Generika-Ayala in PSL opener

The Petron Blaze Spikers outplayed the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers, 25-13, 25-17, 25-19, to start their campaign at the 2017 Chooks-to-Go Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Grand Prix 2017 at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan Saturday.

Looking for their third championship in 2017, the Blaze Spikers nearly let every player to take part in the match, while the Lifesavers struggled with every point.

Petron imports Hillary Hurley and Lindsay Stalzer carried their offensive loads to lead the Blaze Spikers to an easy win with 18 and 14 markers, respectively.

Backing up the imports were Petron’s middle blockers Mika Reyes and Ria Meneses, who accumulated three blocks apiece.

Siguro pinakita lang talaga namin ‘yung chemistry namin. Sinasabi lang namin sa kanila to just enjoy the game and ganoon lang din naman sa practice,” Petron head coach Shaq Delos Santos said.

Hindi pa kami totally satisfied sa jelling namin. May mga kailangan pa kami i-work out talaga lalo na sa depensa namin. Pero meron na kami noong mindset na hinahanap namin,” he added.

Generika’s import Katarina Pilepic finished with 14 points, while Darline Ramdin managed to get nine points.

The Blaze Spikers look to continue their win when they face the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors on Thursday, October 26 at 4 p.m. Meanwhile, the Lifesavers will face the Cocolife Asset Managers on Tuesday, October 24. Both games will be held at the same venue.
