Soaring Falcons escape thriller, stun Fighting Maroons
The Adamson University (ADU) Soaring Falcons narrowly escaped the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons, 73-71, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.
The Fighting Maroons opened the first half with a bang, leading as many as 14 points with the help of Paul Desiderio and Jun Manzo who both contributed 19 points.
Soaring Falcons responded with a vengeance in the second quarter with Jerrick Ahanmisi’s career-high 4 out of 5 three point shooting with 21 points and Jerie Pingoy’s 10, to cut the Fighting Maroons’ lead to one, 42-43.

Both teams are firing on all cylinders in the fourth quarter until the crucial last seconds of the game, when Sean Manganti delivered a game-winning tip-in which gave a heart-breaking loss to the Fighting Maroons.
The Fighting Maroons’ next opponent will be the National University Bulldogs on Oct. 8, 12 n.n. at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, while the Soaring Falcons will face the Far Eastern University Tamaraws 4 p.m. on Oct. 7 at the same venue.
