Soaring Falcons thwart Red Warriors

The Adamson University (ADU) Soaring Falcons flew past the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors, 79-60, keeping them winless in the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament on Oct. 1 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Soaring Falcons sparked their offense with an 11-0 run to start the first quarter, keeping the Red Warriors at bay with their high-intensity defense that ran throughout the whole game to win them their second straight win in the tournament.

UE’s Mark Olayon stepped up by scoring 12 of his 16 points in the first half to close the distance against the Soaring Falcons and ended the second quarter trailing by 10.

The Falcons capitalized UE's weak offense to broaden their lead and end the game with a 19-point difference.

Papi Sarr led the Soaring Falcons with 15 points along with a total of 21 rebounds.

Red Warriors Mark Olayon and Alvin Pasaol topped with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The Soaring Falcons will go against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Oct. 4 at 2 pm, while the Red Warriors will face the De La Salle University Green Archers at 4pm, both at the same venue.
