Green Archers hunt winless Growling Tigers
The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers triumphed against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers, 115-86, in the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament on Sept. 30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
La Salle made a great comeback and showed improvement and better tactics coming off from their loss against the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.
Ben Mbala led the Green Archers with 29 points and 9 rebounds, while Oliver De Guzman paced UST with 18 markers.
The Green Archers made it hard for the Tigers to keep up, sparking a 25-5 run during the second quarter giving them a 24-point lead. They also had their season-high lead of 29 points in the final quarter.
DLSU is now at the second place with a 4-1 win-loss record, while the winless UST remains at the bottom with six straight losses.
The Green Archers and the Growling Tigers will next face the University of the East Red Warriors on Oct. 4 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and Oct. 7 at the Mall of Asia Arena, respectively. Miguel Diego D.G. Baleros
