Lady Bulldogs clobber Growling Tigresses
DEFENDING champion National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs kept their win streak as they conquered the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigresses, 95-65, in UAAP Season 80 women’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.
With their lead down to ten in the last six minutes of the fourth quarter, NU took advantage of UST’s weak defense to end the game with an easy win, 95-65.
UST head coach Haydee Ong said there was an unsurprising height disadvantage between the teams.
“’Yung twin towers nila were there. Talagang we’re under size,” she added.
Jhenn Angeles took a buzzer-beater three-point shot cutting NU’s lead to just three points into the halftime break, 41-38.
Trixie Antiquera scored game-high 27 points leading NU to their 51st straight win, while Anjel Anies led UST with 18 points in a losing effort.
The NU Lady Bulldogs will next face the Adamson University Lady Falcons on Sunday, September 24, 10 a.m., at the same venue.
