An ambitious and career-oriented person, Gelario first pursued Information Technology (one of the highest paid profession in the Philippines) under the Institute of Information and Computing Sciences Department in UST to set his path into a luxurious career in the future.

After one semester, however, he had a change of heart and was enlightened that programming computers with mind-boggling codes was not his passion—even if it brings a bright future. Instead, his passion was illuminated, when he stumbled with profound and life-giving words such as wonder-struck, sine qua non, jus primae noctis, and death-dealing from Will Durant’s book, “Our Oriental Heritage.”
He was awestruck that words, when constructed with mastery, can create an entirely vivid picture that can touch everyone’s hearts. Since then, he relinquished his life-long desire of an affluent life and decided to pursue Journalism where he can broaden his horizons with words.
Is he happy with his degree program? “Absolutely!” he said.
